August 5th election

The Library Green Conservancy Board acknowledges that the August 5 ballot questions that were initiated by City Council resulted in the repeal of the 2018 citizen-initiated charter amendment to establish the Center of the City. While the circumstances of the 2025 election are significantly different, we accept the result, as a measure of small “d” democracy. We thank the many supporters who helped us reach voters who understand the importance of a public open space to gather, socialize, enjoy entertainment and recreation. We encourage all to participate in the public process related to downtown open space that will be managed by the Ann Arbor District Library. We recommend that the City, the Ann Arbor Parks system and the Downtown Development Association review potential design changes to improve Liberty Plaza.
